Boosting innovation and growth by fostering Free Open Source Software
Rome, 16-17 January 2008
The 16th and 17th of January took place the First International QualiPSo conference about fostering trust and quality in Free Open Source Systems. With 135 attendees from China, Brazil, Italy, France, Germany, Spain, Greece, Belgium and other EU countries, the two-days conference was focus on the challenges that the FOSS model introduces while being integrated in industry strategies.
The conference approached Free Open Source from three complementary angles. The first part was dedicated to present the politicians and the industry view. The second part was devoted to present the status of the FOSS in the world by relevant personalities at European and world level. The third part was completely dedicated to the legal, business and technical issues of the FOSS.
Who were there?
The IT executives from the major players were presented in an industry round table; public administrations presented their needs and on going solutions; high level authorities opened the conference emphasizing the role that Free Open Source can play in the society development; key experts in different and related domains in the Free Open Source field, provided us a useful view of the current situation; Software project managers, Free Open Source Software Community members, IT architects from different companies attended to the event showing their interest on the matter.
