Conference information
After the success of the First QUALIPSO conference amongst the Free Open Source community, a second QualiPSo Conference took place the 1st of December 2008 in Paris. In this occasion the 2nd Conference was held within the international event: The Open World Forum: FLOSS (Free Libre and Open Source Software) Innovation and Competitiveness.
Qualipso collaborates with the OSOR.eu, initiated by the IDABC Unit (managed by the European Commission's Directorate-General for Informatics). OSOR.eu is about libre (free, open source) software of interest to public administrations.
The platform supports the exchange of experiences and software and offers space and tools for collaborative projects. Qualipso provides expertise during the workshop on the future of the OSOR.eu platform during the 2nd Qualipso conference.
This Forum provides an international venue where FLOSS community members, politicians, IT decision makers, software project managers and leading-edge researchers and academics can meet to strengthen collaboration, cross-fertilize ideas and consolidate research and initiatives in FLOSS.
In this context, The 2nd QualiPSo conference focused on fostering FLOSS adoption into the mainstream. During one day, a total of eight panel sessions were held regarding different QualiPSo related issues such as Open Source Quality, the Future of FLOSS Quality Research, Interoperability, Next Generation Forges, Information Management, Business and Strategies, Legal issues and Competence Centers. All these panels were presented by open source experts from Industry, Research Centers and Academia.
Second day of the conference, was led by key notes from institutional side, such as European Commission, governmental officials and major open source players to be followed by several panel sessions aimed at enforcing FLOSS development from the sustainability, innovation, competitiveness and economic point of view amongst other. This Open World Forum closing session was based on the FLOSS roadmap and recommendations.
With a target audience ranging from politicians to IT decision makers, Software project managers, leading-edge researchers, and Open Source community members, the QualiPSo Conference was a unique opportunity to
