This course presents the state of art about Technical Interoperability that covers the technical issues of linking up computer systems and services.

This includes key aspects such as open interfaces, interconnection services, data integration and middleware, data presentation and exchange, accessibility and security services.

Firstly, the course defines the terms and introduces the main concepts related to technical interoperability, then it presents the current approaches, analysis, domains and standards to support the technical interoperability. In summary, the course covers:

• Identification of the internal and external key factors that are important to achieving the objective of technical interoperability.
• Identification of strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats related to the SWOT analysis about technical interoperability.
• Identification of relations between technical interoperability, semantic and organizational interoperability.
• Presentation of EC Domain for technical interoperability.
• Explanation of the role of technical interoperability in the QualiPSo Project.
